As seen from the past 65 years in our country, the urban populace do not vote in any elections. The voting percentage in any urban constituency whether be it a MLA or MP or Corporattor’s election, does not exceed 60% . We always talk that politicians do not deliver, they are the biggest jokers and all sorts of things. But none of us acts towards a possible solution for this failure of democracy.
Well, if I do not vote, I do not have right to speak against the Governance. The corrupt politicians are taking advantage on this and try to win the elections by purchasing votes of poor, illiterates and the backward. These voters can always be influenced by money, gifts, liquor, etc.
As rightly pointed out by some of the Resident Welfare Associations of Bangalore, the only solution for this is to field a right candidate from amongst one of them in the forth coming BBMP elections. Even, here the Politicians have intelligently played their cards in deliminating the wards and ward reservations in such a way that no resident welfare association is fully represented in one single ward. Most of the large associations are divided into three or four wards, even after such RWAS have given representations to the Government before the delimination process begun. Every RWA should make an effort to field at least one candidate in all 198 wards. Even if 20 candidates win the elections, we can bring a metamorphic change to the Map of Bangalore. Think - you can easily convince the residents of your Welfare Association to vote for your candidate, who is one amongst your area resident taking active steps in welfare activities. If even 50% of such non-voters come and vote for you, you will be the winner.
As a beginning to the movement, Konanakunte Kshemabhivruddhi Sangagala Okkoota, has already identified a candidate who is an active officer bearer of the federation and official residing in the area for last 20 years, to contest the forth coming BBMP elections from Anjanapura Ward. The candidate is LION RENUKUMAR.
We make an earnest appeal to all the RESIDENT WELFARE ASSOCIATIONS/ FEDERATIONS OF SUCH ASSOCIATIONS to come and join the movement or revolution along with our OKKOOTA, by fielding their own candidate in the forth coming BBMP Elections. We shall work hard together and show the strength of ordinary residents to the corrupt politicians. We are sure, if we join hands together, we can elect atleast 20 to 25 Corporators in the election. If this happens, we can have our say in the nominated Corporators whose strength will be 20 in the council.

I agree that your views are okay. I myself am a resident of Konankunte. It is difficult for a educated person to contest an election and win. When Captain Gopinath lost the elections from south Bangalore constituency, Renukumar is of no consequence. We are too educated, too civilised and too subservient a people to elect an educated person. But yo are right in another aspect too. I am one of the people who has not cast a single vote, having seen almost 20 elections. They are all the same. Let us see if your Renukumar makes a change. Since I am a Konankunte resident and I have properties here, I cannot leave my name in my comment
ReplyDeleteI think, one such candidate if elected cannot bring about a change. All the so called educated class should think positively and start voting. It is good suggestion that a person who is already well known in his locality through the good works done throuh his RWA contesting the election.
ReplyDeleteI am not a resident of Bangalore I have come here only to pursue my career. I donot know about the politics of Bangalore or karnataka. However, generally thinking, the views aired by you have some thing to think about by every citizen.
ReplyDeleteI dont agree, all politicians are alike. Even if a person elected is from RWA , he will become like all other politicians after getting elected.
